Thoughts that dare to escape.

Discouragement

Why is it that discouragement comes so often and so easily? Why is it that “we”, and by we, I mean “I”, are so eager to listen to it over any sort of encouragement or positivity? Why do we believe the negativity so much more quickly than the edification? How is it that those words feel so much more true than the rest?

Fear seems to be the culprit this time. And thinking back, its probably the culprit every time. I’m reminded that fear is one of the few weapons the enemy has in his belt. Being that he has few weapons, he tends to use fear a great deal. Fear seems to be defined as a noun. alarm, apprehension Synonyms: abhorrence, agitation, angst, anxiety, aversion, chickenheartedness, cold feet, cold sweat, concern, consternation, cowardice, creeps, despair, discomposure, dismay, disquietude, distress, doubt, dread, faintheartedness, foreboding, fright, horror, jitters, misgiving, nightmare, panic, phobia, presentiment, qualm, reverence, revulsion, scare, suspicion, terror, timidity, trembling, tremor, trepidation, unease, uneasiness, worry.

Dreams are a funny thing. I believe dreams are given from God and are part of your assignment while here on the earth. Why wouldn’t the enemy of our souls be so adamantly against the very thing we were created to be and do, working ever so hard to steal, kill and destroy any evidence of why we were created? In Psalms, David talks about being “knit together in our mothers womb”. I imagine God was “knitting” or “weaving” His dreams and His spirit to our being, making it now our dreams and our spirit. I find myself trying to so hard to shake off these dreams, thinking that if I ignore them long enough they will go away and all of this struggle will go with it. But in the end, this is what I was created to do. To run away from them would be the end of me, the end of my sanity and foundation. And honestly, there would be such a huge void. Our sense of purpose comes from these dreams. Our feelings of usefulness and impact on the world around us comes from the pursuit of our dreams. We mustn’t listen to the lies anymore. We must grab ahold of truth. Truth saying that this is who He created us to be and what He created us to do and we will no longer agree with the discouragement and fear. We will align ourselves only with truth. For nothing is impossible with God. If we are in Him, then whatever we set our hands to will prosper.
